The langoustine is distinguished from lobster because it is much smaller and its meat is said to be sweeter. While plentiful in Europe anwaters, langoustines, better known as scampi, are scarcely found in North America and whenever served at restaurants they have been shipped frozen because their delicate meat does not survive the journey. Fortunately for Höfn and Kaffi Hornið the langoustines are freshly caught each day for visitors to taste.
"Excellent food and service"Try the lobster bisque, it’s a must have. It’s creamy but not too rich, full of flavor with nice chunks of Lobster, simply delicious! We also had the salted cod and lobster pizza both very good. The pizza had pine nuts and was topped with arugula. The service was excellent and the owner even came out to chat with us. Such a lovely treat in a beautiful Icelandic town.
"Excelent food"They've got the best lobster soup in Iceland. After four different restaurants in Iceland I'd say they have the nicest soup. Meat was tender. The waiter adviced us with the wine. Prices are ok if you consider you are in Iceland.
Happy in HofnWe had a vey nice lunch at Kaffi Hornid today. From the outside, KH looked clean and simple and modest. The food inside was anything but modest - full of rich flavors, delicately prepared with great care and beautiful presentation. The staff was friendly and helpful and helped us with Icelandic pronunciations! We enjoyed our meal and highly recommend the kind hospitality in Hofn
